A game changer for Nigeria
Nigeria bears the world’s highest burden of malaria. Local manufacturing of Vestergaard's latest mosquito net innovation will strengthen supply chains, reduce dependence on imports, and drive long-term health resilience across the region.
Long-lasting insecticide-treated nets are the cornerstone of malaria prevention. Between 2000 and 2024, they were responsible for approximately 1.13 billion malaria cases averted – 72% of all cases prevented across Africa. Long-term commitment to producing nets closer to where they are needed is critical to sustaining this progress.
About PermaNet® Dual
PermaNet Dual was developed by Vestergaard. It combines deltamethrin (a pyrethroid) and chlorfenapyr, two complementary active ingredients that work together to kill mosquitoes that have developed resistance to conventional insecticides.
These new-generation pyrethroid–chlorfenapyr nets are a vital tool in global malaria control efforts, preventing an additional 39.3 million cases between 2018 and 2024.
Together for sustainable health impact
Health Textiles Nigeria FZE is a Vestergaard-owned manufacturing facility established to produce insecticide-treated mosquito nets locally in Nigeria. Part of Vestergaard’s global platform for malaria prevention, the operation is led locally and staffed by Nigerian professionals.
The facility strengthens national and regional malaria control efforts by building domestic manufacturing capacity, fortifying supply chains, supporting skilled employment, and producing essential vector control tools closer to where they are needed.
The project aligns with the Presidential Initiative for Unlocking the Healthcare Value Chain (PVAC) in support of the Nigerian government’s goal of expanding domestic production to advance a self-sustaining, African-led approach to malaria control.

Amar Ali is a social entrepreneur focused on building businesses across the health, agriculture, food and nutrition sectors. He joined Vestergaard in 2023 as CEO, working to advance the company’s leadership position in malaria elimination while also building out the agricultural arm of the business. His career started at Accenture in the communications and high-tech practice, going on to span strategy consulting, sports psychology and corporate leadership roles. Following his time in Sudan building food and agriculture businesses, he served in Rwanda as CEO of Africa Improved Foods (a public private-partnership addressing malnutrition), and subsequently as President of DSM-Firmenich’s Africa region. He has collaborated extensively with governments, development finance institutions, UN entities including the World Health Organization, World Food Programme, and UNICEF, and other global organizations such as the Global Fund and Gates Foundation.
